Becoming a new parent can be a daunting task. Think about everything that needs to be planned, from picking a name, to choosing the right clothes and toys. There is also another important issue that needs to be discussed among the soon to be mom and dad. Safety is paramount, so deciding on an infant car seat is an issue that will need some discussion time.
There are dozens of models and brands to choose from. In this article though, I will just talk about the Chicco Keyfit 30 infant car seat. By most accounts, the Chicco Keyfit is a solid car seat with a lot of positive feedback from user reviews. There are however, a few common complaints about the product, and I will discuss both the good and bad points. This way, parents can make up their mind whether the Keyfit 30 is a suitable baby seat for their child.
Chicco has been around and manufacturing baby equipment since 1958. Any company with a less than reliable reputation would not have withstood the test of time. The fact that Chicco is still in business after 50 plus years really speaks for itself.
The most important issue is safety, and parents can rest assure that Chicco did not drop the ball when it comes to providing the safest and most durable equipment for your child. The seat contains energy absorbing foam to protect its inhabitant from impact collisions. There is also a five point harness that ensures your little passenger is securely fastened.
Comfort is another important factor. The last thing a parent wants is for their child to be crying non stop on a long road trip. The Keyfit 30 comes with a removable newborn insert for babies 10 pounds and under. it can also hold tots up to 30lb. The interior is heavily padded, but can be removed or placed in different parts to adjust to whatever is most comfortable.
The Chicco Keyfit does fall short in two areas. One problem commonly reported is the weight of the product. The system is quite heavy, so expect sore arms when using this as a carrier.
A second complaint is that the interior is prone to heating up. This will have your baby sweating a lot. This issue though, can be solved simply by placing a cloth into the seat so your baby doesn’t make contact with the material.
The Chicco Keyfit 30 is a top notch product. It has some flaws, but every car seat brand has their share of them. If the issues I mentioned can be overlooked, then parents shouldn’t be disappointed with this car seat.
